The Benefits of Therapy and Counseling
“The Things with a meaning is worth more in life than the greatest of things without it.” Carl Jung
We have all faced problems at some point during our lives and have wondered who to turn to. It’s understood that seeking therapy for such issues is not easy, and does not mean you are “weak”. The first step towards making changes in your life begins with investing in yourself and reaching out to someone who can help. Sometimes issues such family conflicts, relational issues, the stressors of parenting, dating, or the process of drug and alcohol recovery, have negative impacts on our anxiety and depression level which can translate into our lives and relationships. We may find ourselves feeling stuck and alone, or like we are living a meaningless life.
Therapy can offer you the support you need as you navigate your way through problems, and help you revisit and reclaim your identity and values. Therapy can also help you find your authentic voice and live a life that is of meaning for you and not a life that is a reflection of the expectations placed on you by culture or those around you.
Here is a brief overview of what you can expect to happen in our sessions:
In the first session we will discuss your goals for therapy and will make sure that you feel comfortable enough to start the therapeutic process. We will start each session with a review of the previous session and I will frequently check in with you to see what is and is not working for you. We will work in collaboration to make sure that your therapeutic needs are being met and that you are making progress towards resolving the issues at hand.
By engaging in talk therapy, we can help access your strengths and potentials which are often forgotten as a result of the constant battle with problem. Our goal with talk therapy is to help you deal with problems in a more preferable and helpful manner, develop more meaningful relationships, make decisions from a place of strength and not fear, and create a more fulfilling life.
